Development of Intelligent Robotic Systems for 3D Printing

The CRIStAL team is working on the design and integration of system-of-systems architectures, combining robotic arms, multi-physical sensors, and supervision modules to enable fine-grained, real-time control of additive manufacturing processes.

Through a digitalisation-driven approach, the laboratory develops advanced cyber-physical architectures that allow dynamic interaction between robots, digital twins, and process-related data flows.

Quality Control and AI for Predictive Compensation

One of the major challenges addressed by CRIStAL is to ensure optimal printing quality despite uncertainties related to materials and manufacturing conditions. To tackle this, the team designs adaptive estimation algorithms and anticipatory predictive compensation methods, powered by embedded artificial intelligence.

These tools make it possible to detect, estimate, and correct geometric or thermal deviations in real time, ensuring high-quality printed parts. This contribution is essential to automate processes while maintaining high reliability in demanding industrial contexts.
